Whitethorne / Elvenstar Equitation Tournament

Below is a recap of the 2021 $20,000 Whitethorne/Elvenstar Equitation Tournament by West Palms Events Management’s June 8 press release. The Whitethorne/Elvenstar Equitation Tournament welcomed over 30 riders to compete across four phases modeled after the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search Finals with fences set at 1.05m.

  • Phase One

    Phase 1 was the Flat Phase kicked off Saturday morning, preparing riders for the Gymnastics Phase that evening. Before Phase II, judge Diane Carney walked the course with the riders and gave them the opportunity to ask questions.

  • Phase Two

    Phase 2 was the Gymnastics Phase which incorporated several flat tests, including demonstrating two changes of lead, counter-cantering, trotting, and halting within the course.

  • Phase Three

    Phase 3 of the Whitethorne/Elvenstar Open Equitation Tournament consisted of a stadium-style course designed by Kevin Holowack, where time allowed and faults were taken into consideration. The course asked several questions of riders, including adding strides in bending lines.

  • Phase Four

    On Sunday the class concluded with Phase 4, where the top four riders switched horses and jumped a portion of the course.
